Video takes up a huge amount of space since the images contain so much data. Because of this, video clips have to be compressed to play on the web correctly.

Progressive download is set up so the viewer has control of the webmercial while the video is being downloaded .

The viewer can watch the entire video without breaks once it has completely downloaded. The initial download time depends on the speed of the viewers modem. QuickTime progressive download generally produces the best quality movies on all speeds of internet connection.
